Belleville man wielding sword Tasered and arrested

BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man was Tasered and arrested after brandishing a sword during a heated argument Monday, according to Belleville Police.

Several calls were received about a man with a sword on Russell Street at 5:15 p.m Monday, police said.

A dispute between neighbours had escalated and one man involved retrieved a sword and brandished it during the argument, they said. Police refused comment when asked by QNet News for more information about the sword.

When officers arrived, they Tasered the man and arrested him. The sword was seized as evidence.

The man, who is 38, was held for bail on Tuesday on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and assault with a weapon.

No one was injured in the incident.
