City offers free removal of old spruce trees

  • September 23, 2015 at 9:51 am

By Mo Cranker

BELLEVILLE – The city of Belleville is offering a free spruce tree removal service in hopes of getting some trees for its annual Christmas lighting program.

The trees will be placed in various locations around the city such as Jane Forrester Park, the Quinte Sport and Wellness Centre and Market Square during the holiday season.

The city is looking for people and businesses that would be willing to donate spruce trees 20 feet or higher.

If the tree passes Belleville’s inspection, the city will remove it free of charge.

After the Christmas celebrations the trees will be turned into mulch for city parks.

If you wish to donate a tree, contact the city at 613-967-0036.
