BELLEVILLE – A dog owner got a suspicious visit from a man claiming to be with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Tuesday morning.

Napanee OPP responded to a report of a man, described as being aboriginal, 6’5″ with long dark hair and stubble, visiting a home on Ann Street in Napanee. The man said he was with the SPCA and claimed he was there to take the homeowner’s dog away after getting a noise complaint, police said. When the homeowner asked the man for identification, he said it was in his van. He tried to get past the homeowner and go inside the house but the homeowner stopped him. He then went back to his van and drove off.

The man’s vehicle is described as a white 2002 Chevrolet with tinted windows and a cage in the back.

Napanee OPP also got reports of a man loading a dog into a white van in Deseronto on Monday morning.

Anoyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or Napanee OPP at 613-354-3369.
