Loyalist College helps students prepare for winter

  • October 1, 2015 at 1:08 pm

By Haley Rose

BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College is preparing to help students and their families stay warm this winter.

The Warm Bodies Clothing Giveaway gives students the opportunity to drop off new or gently used winter apparel.

From now until Nov. 18, students can donate their articles of clothing at the college’s admissions office, Room 2H1.

This is the first year Loyalist has held the event.

Carrie Bulgajewski, a recruitment officer at the college, said she noticed many students without winter clothes last year. She remembered how tight money was for her when she was a student and how hard it was to sacrifice certain things, she added. “I thought the school could help relieve stress and make students’ lives a little easier by holding a clothing drive,” Bulgajewski said.

Bulgajewski and Lauren Saulnier, a Child and Youth Care student, have teamed up with the Campus Connect committee to help make the clothing drive a reality.

The giveaway will be held on Nov. 18 in the dining hall. Anyone who needs an article of clothing can take it from a rack or table that will be set up. Any items left over at the end of the day will be donated to a local charity.
