BELLEVILLE – An unlucky coincidence ended in arrest for a 27-year-old man who was caught not following the rules of his bail late Wednesday night.

The Belleville Police reported Thursday morning that officers happened to be doing bar checks in downtown Belleville when they recognized a man who had just been released on bail. One of the conditions of the man’s bail was to not drink alcohol.

The man had consumed alcohol and so officers arrested and charged him with breach of recognizance. He was later released with a court date of Oct. 15.
