Are Loyalist students more interested in baseball or politics?

BELLEVILLE – Two big news events happened Monday night – the Toronto Blue Jays‘ win over the Kansas City Royals and the federal election. So which of the two were students following more closely?

The Jays played game three of the American League Championship Series and got back into the series with an 11-8 victory. The Jays haven’t been in the playoffs since they won the World Series back in 1993.

At the same time, Canada’s Liberal party celebrated a victory as Justin Trudeau was elected as the country’s new leader, ending 10 years of the government of Stephen Harper and the Conservatives.

So what were Loyalist students following?

Even if the election wasn’t the highest on students’ priority list, they were able to keep on top of what was happening thanks to updates during the Jays broadcast, Rebecca Norton noted.

Overall, the students QNet News interviewed said they were more interested in the Jays game but they also stayed informed about the election results.
