BELLEVILLE – As the Toronto Blue Jays prepare to face the Kansas City Royals for Game 5 of the American League Championship Series in Toronto Wednesday, some students at Loyalist College said they are cautiously optimistic.
Brock Tufts, a first-year journalism student at Loyalist, said he is hoping to see a comeback for the Jays.
The Jays need to win the next two games in order to tie the series with Kansas City and have a chance to move to the World Series.
Haley Ferguson, a paralegal student at Loyalist, said she is unsure how the game will go.
The Blue Jays have won one game and lost three in this series. In the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers, they were down two games to nothing before they came back to win the series.
Cody Starr, another first year journalism student, said the Jays will have to work hard in order to move on.
“I think they do (have a chance), we saw it in the last series with the Rangers. They definitely came back from that one but I think they really need to step up their game,” he continued to say.
Michael Gierczak, a student in the Loyalist College radio broadcasting program, said he is still hopeful but is preparing for the worst.
The game starts at 4:00 p.m. and if the Jays do not win they will be out of the ALCS. If they do win this series they will head to the World Series against either the Chicago Cubs or the New York Mets.
