Napanee man killed walking on highway after accident
BELLEVILLE – A 31-year-old Napanee man is dead after a two-car accident on Highway 401 westbound between Belleville and Napanee Saturday night.
One of the vehicles, a black Dodge Dakota, was hit from behind by a Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Nissan was thrown from his car. While walking along the highway, he was reportedly hit by a transport truck near the County Road 6 exit. Napanee OPP officers who were at the scene said after a brief search, the driver was found in the median of the highway while his car was in a ditch on the other side.
The man was still alive when police and ambulances arrived, but he later died in hospital.
The highway was closed for several hours on Saturday while OPP investigated the accident.
The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital but was released shortly after.
