BELLEVILLE – The rising costs of the Build Belleville project [2] could be made up for, according to a report to be received by city council on Monday.
The downtown revitalization [3] portion of Build Belleville, that is currently under construction, will go $10 million over its original budget if all three phases are completed as planned.
But a new report [4] from city staff suggests that there are ways to make up that money from the overall budget of $143 million to cover the unexpected costs. The report said that using some funding from other infrastructure projects that have gone under-budget, as well as utilizing new provincial and federal grants, could help account for the additional $10 million in costs for the project.
Planning for a new Belleville Police Service headquarters will also be on the agenda for Monday’s city council meeting.
