“Centre of gravity for the armed forces is activities like this. Your support here, your presence today. It’s what gives us strength,” Major Allan Ferriss said to the crowd. “I thank you for supporting us and being our centre of gravity.”

Major Ferriss ended his speech with an emphasis on how important the support of the Canadian Citizens is for our Armed Forces.

Author Mary Thomas spoke to the crowd as well.

“Remembrance Day can be about keeping one person in mind,” she said.

Elsewhere in Belleville, there was a parade at 10:30 a.m., leading residents from the armouries to the cenotaph. The rain temporarily held off while multiple speakers addressed the crowd.

QNet News reporter Samantha Reed was at the Belleville cenotaph:

Hundreds gathered at the cenotaph in Trenton to remember fallen Canadian soldiers.

One of those attending, veteran Harold Gagnon, said the support from Canada’s youth has improved this year.
