Quinte receives gas tax revenue

  • November 12, 2015 at 3:12 pm

By Jordan Merkley

BELLEVILLE – The Quinte region has received its share from the federal Gas Tax Fund.

The City of Belleville will get $660,000, which it’s expected to dedicate to transit and Quinte West will receive $471,000.

Prince Edward County will also be putting its $85,000 toward local transit.

The fund provides money for Canadian municipalities to build and revitalize local infrastructure.

Provinces receive the funding from the federal government and then distribute it to the municipalities. Ontario has been allocated nearly $4 billion.
