BELLEVILLE– After racing for over 10 years, big block modified driver Tim Kerr said he got the shock of a lifetime.

As the Picton driver came around turn number four in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals, Kerr knew he had won his first Super DIRTcar series win. The prize: $8,000. The Super DIRTcar series is a modified racing tour series in the United States and Canada. Drivers of big block modified cars sit in the middle of the car with wind-channeling tunnels on either side. These cars are not stock and have up to 750- plus horsepower in the engines.

Kerr said this was his second win overall, but his first win in the Super DIRTcar series. Kerr said he and his team have a low budget for racing so he made sure he had the top of the line equipment before heading down.

This is not the first time Kerr and his team have raced on the track in Charlotte and after the results this season, it certainly won’t be the last.

Many local racers said on social media they were watching Kerr as he drove his car into the victory lane to celebrate. Kerr said he feels his win in Charlotte showed local drivers that if they work hard, they can end up there too.

Kerr said he plans to use his winnings to pay off bills and put the rest toward racing.

Kerr’s next race will take place at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida.
