Police charge Belleville man with kidnapping

BELLEVILLE – Belleville Police have charged a local man for kidnapping a young woman last night.

The man broke into an apartment close to 10:30 p.m. in the city’s west end and got into a confrontation with a male and female tenant. He threatened the male with a knife before taking the 20-year-old woman.

Police were called and the woman was found unharmed in a second location and the 21-year-old man was then arrested.

He currently faces several charges, including kidnapping, possession of a weapon and uttering death threats.

The man is expected to appear for a bail meeting later today.
