BELLEVILLE – A 26-year-old Belleville man has been charged with mischief and possession of a controlled substance.

Late Tuesday night around 10:45 p.m., police were called to the Duke Pub on Front Street downtown after a man refused to leave the bar when asked. He also broke an overhead light outside of the bar and damaged several potted plants, police said.

When police searched the man, they said, they found a small amount of marijuana on him. He was charged with mischief under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.

Police also discovered that a friend whom the man was with was wanted by Collingwood OPP on charges of breach of probation and failing to appear in court. The 23-year-old Belleville man was arrested.
