Bay of Quinte Living program on chopping block at next council meeting

  • December 7, 2015 at 3:40 pm

By Matthew Murray

BELLEVILLE – Members of Quinte West city council are putting forward a motion at Monday’s meeting to cut funding to the Bay of Quinte Living program.

The program is an offshoot of Bay of Quinte Tourism. It’s promoted by the local construction industry and focuses on marketing the Quinte Region as a place to settle.

Rob MacIntosh, Quinte West councillor and chair of the Quinte West Tourism Committee, is set to put forward a motion on Monday night that will see the city of Quinte West withdraw from the program. Jon Van Huizan, president of the Bay of Quinte Living, will also speak on Monday to inform the council on updates regarding the program. The city currently invests $22,000 into the program each year.

QNet News will be attending the council meeting, more to come.
