By Jordan Merkley

NAPANEE – The eastbound 401 near Napanee has been reopened after an accident involving a single tractor-trailer.

The accident took place between Palace Road and Switzerville Road just after 10 p.m. Tuesday. Both lanes were closed for about five hours.

According to the Napanee OPP, the tractor-trailer got hung up on the guardrail, blocking the highway. Fuel from the truck leaked into the ditch.

An ambulance was dispatched, said Const. Jackie Perry, but she added that police are not aware of any injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer has been charged, she said, although she did not yet know what the charge was.
