Police warn citizens of ongoing phone scam

  • January 14, 2016 at 10:59 am

BELLEVILLE – Belleville Police are warning citizens to be wary of a phone scam involving the Canada Revenue Agency.

The scammer identifies himself as agent or officer from CRA, according to police.

They will then claim there is a problem with your account, and that you could be at risk of being arrested, unless you are able to make a payment.

Belleville Police would like to remind the public to never give out personal information over the phone, as well to emphasize that the CRA would never contact anyone in this manner.
