BELLEVILLE – Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in Canada [2].
According to the World Health Organization [3], the suicide rate among Canadians is 15 per 100,000 people annually. That’s approximately 3,600 deaths per year [4].
There are ways to prevent suicide. The Stirling-Rawdon Police Service [5]and the Stirling Public Library [6]are hosting a Suicide Prevention Information Session on Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 6:30-9p.m. in the upper hall of the Stirling Festival Theatre in downtown Stirling.
This seminar will have guest speakers such as Somatic Experiencing [7]Trauma Specialist Laurene Winkler of Cobourg, mental health counselor Tammy Orr and former National Hockey League player Shawn Antoski.
This seminar is free and anyone is welcome to attend.
