BELLEVILLE – OPP are warning people not to fall for a phone scam from a person claiming to be a Canada Revenue Agency employee.

Police say they received a complaint from a resident of Tudor- Cashel Township who received a call.

The fraudster wanted the resident to confirm his social insurance number and claimed he owed back taxes.

The fraudster then asked him to forward the owing taxes which he found suspicious so he hung up.

The CRA is warning the public to be aware of tax scams.
