Loyalist College to host high school burger competition

  • January 25, 2016 at 2:16 pm

By Ashley Clark

BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College is partnering with local restaurant Burger Revolution to host The Great Canadian Burger Competition as an opportunity for high school students to show off their skills on the grill.

The teams can consist of one or two students, with only one team allowed per high school. Each team must register and send in their recipe by Feb. 10.

Four teams will then be selected to battle it out in the Loyalist College kitchen on March 2, with only two hours to complete their burgers.

The dishes will be judged on creativity, taste and appearance.

For the People’s Choice award, anyone is welcome to show up and try each recipe between noon and 1 p.m. at Resto 213 in the college. The winners will be announced following the tastings.

The first place and People’s Choice winners will receive $500 to each team member. Second place winners will receive $300 per team member and third place will win $200 per team member.

More to come.
