Highway 2 traffic stop leads to multiple charges

BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man was arrested for impaired driving after an off-duty Ontario Provincial Police officer reported an erratic vehicle on Highway 2 Wednesday evening.

Shortly after 6 p.m, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the city’s east end and pulled over an 18-year-old male driver. They seized a small amount of marijuana. The man faces impaired driving charges as well as a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The man’s car has been impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

He is to appear in Belleville court Feb. 11.
