Mill Pond Moe to predict winter’s end

By Molly Little [1] and Emilie Quesnel [2]

BELLEVILLE –  Will there be an early spring or six more weeks of winter? You can find out Tuesday morning when Stirling’s Mill Pond Moe searches for his shadow.

The groundhog will make his prediction at the Covered Bridge in Stirling at 7:30 a.m. If he sees his shadow then, as the folklore goes, there will be six more weeks of winter.

Stirling’s annual Groundhog Fest [3] kicked off Friday evening with a chicken dinner and will conclude with Mill Pond Moe’s prediction for spring.

The Town Crier will announce the outcome after the groundhog emerges from his burrow.

QNet News reporters will be at the event.
