Downtown fight stopped by police officer

BELLEVILLE – A patrolling police officer stopped a fight on Front Street downtown early Tuesday morning.

Belleville Police report that at 1:20 a.m., the officer noticed two men about to fight.

A 26-year-old Belleville man was arrested for public intoxication.

He was taken to the police station for his own safety and released when sober.
