BELLEVILLE –Two drivers have been charged with impaired driving following separate incidents in Quinte West.

The first driver was pulled over around 2 a.m on Monday for  invalid permits, OPP say. It was then determined during the stop that the driver of the vehicle had been drinking, police say.

A 25-year-old woman from Quinte West has been charged with driving while over the legal limit, driving without valid permits and driving with blood alcohol content above zero. Novice drivers are not allowed to have any alcohol in their system while driving.

The woman was released after promising to appear before court. She is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at the Quinte Courthouse in Belleville on Feb. 25.

A second stop occurred early Tuesday morning when officers stopped a vehicle in a parking lot in Frankford. Following an investigation, police say they determined that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. A 30-year-old Ameliasburgh man was charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal alcohol limit.

He was also released after promising to appear in court and is scheduled to appear at the Quinte Courthouse on Feb. 25 as well.
