By Courtenay Modeste

BELLEVILLE – On March 5, Loyalist College’s Public Relations students will make Belleville history by hosting the first-ever penguin dip, to take place in the Bay of Quinte at the Herchimer Boat Launch.

All proceeds will go to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign

Students are asking participants to provide a picture with a short explanation of why they are willing to take the plunge. They plan on making each plunger an online profile on YouCaring.com, helping to promote each individual using Facebook and Twitter.

The minimum charge to participate is $25. The amount of money raised by each person will determine how far he or she must go into the water:

  • $25 up to the knees
  • $50 up to the waist
  • $75 up to the shoulders
  • $100 or more – the participant must be submerged

If you would like to take part in this event, Loyalist PR is asking you to contact them as soon as possible at freezingin4areasonbelleville@gmail.com.
