BELLEVILLE – A Kingston police officer has been charged with impaired driving.

Loyalist OPP charged a 33-year-old off-duty officer when they were dispatched to a report of a white Volvo in the median on Highway 401 westbound near Odessa on Feb. 22.

The officer was arrested and has been charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date on March 8.

He continues to work with the Kingston police on administrative duties.
