BELLEVILLE – The federal government will spend $17.5 million on community events and a musical celebration for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017.

Canadian Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly announced Monday that $7.5 million will go to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and $10 million will go to Community Foundations of Canada.

Communities across the country will receive micro-grants for projects related to the celebration.

More to come.
