During the October 2015 election, the Liberal Party promised to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada before the end of 2015. As of February 2016 Canada has met its goal of helping 25,000 Syrian families resettle in the country.

There are two confirmed families that are living in the Quinte region and another expected to arrive in Stirling soon. Quinte immigration, along with several other groups and churches in the area are involved in helping these families integrate into the community.

Across Canada and the Quinte region, many have expressed their thoughts and opinions about how many more families are still set to be welcomed into the country. Do you think surrounding communities such as Belleville, Stirling and Prince Edward County have the resources to bring in more families?

Join Emma Persaud, Haley Rose and Stephanie Clue for this discussion. We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this issue. The live chat will happen on Tuesday, March 22 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.
