Lightning left thousands in the dark across Central Ontario

By: Nick Liard

Some may have stayed up for the fireworks, some might have slept right through it. Nevertheless lightning jumped across the sky’s last night and left nearly 3,400 people without power this morning.

People in the towns from Campbellford to Tweed and stretching to Kingston were without power this morning.

Workers from Hydro One are on the job and expect power to be up and running again by 12:15 p.m. at the latest, according to the Hydro One website.

Multiple outages happened all over the province last night as the thunderstorms affected most of Central Ontario.
