Bio tech students still waiting to move into new skills centre

The Sustainable Skills, Technology, and Life Sciences Centre was supposed to be the home of the Loyalist biotech students but they are still in the main building.

But students have been patiently waiting for the building to be finished, said Loyalist College President Maureen Piercy.

“Our students have been wonderful, because it’s a difficult thing. When you are building a new building students will be in temporary quarters, “ said Piercy. “ We just got occupancy March 31, and things are being finished up. We are moving people in as quickly as we can.”

The grand opening of the Link Lounge was announced at Thursday night’s college board of governors meeting.

“The Link lounge is just a fabulous wow factor. Our student partners are the ones that made that happen, so we are looking forward to opening that (Friday),” said Piercy. “ It’s a chance to celebrate their generosity and the wonderful gift that they are giving.

“The funding was for instructional space, so in order for them to have some wow, and student space the students stepped up to the plate and made a wonderful gift. It’s so exciting.”
