  • January 17, 2017 at 2:33 pm

By Andrew Harper

CAMPBELLFORD – A workplace accident in Tanner Industrial Park on Monday has left one teen dead.

Police say Bailey McDonald, 18, was working between two 53 foot trailers in the rear parking lot of the park. Constable Steven Bates says one the trailers moved towards other trapping McDonald in between.

McDonald was working for Mintech Marketing, a recycling and waste management company owned and operated in Campbellford.

Bates says that there was no criminal intent, however the investigation is on-going and has been turned over to the Ministry of Labour.

“We have a duty to report this to the coroners office and to the Ministry of Labour because this was a workplace accident” Bates said

Officer Bates says the OPP will assist the Ministry of Labour and the coroners office as it is needed.

According to Officer Bates there has been no recorded incident like this one before in the Campbellford area.

A representative at Mintech Marketing was unavailable to comment at this time.

More to come.
