High winds blast through region

BELLEVILLE – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Belleville and surrounding areas including Quinte West and parts of Northumberland County.

It’s warning that high winds that are blowing through the region.

According to the statement, winds are estimated to reach 50 km/h with gusts up to 80 km/h this afternoon.

Drivers are warned that this may make driving difficult. Power outages and damage are also possible.

Winds are expected to diminish later this afternoon.
