Trenton man charged with assaulting police officer

BELLEVILLE  – A Trenton man has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest after an altercation with the Quinte West OPP last Saturday. 

Police arrested a 22-year-old man while investigating a disturbance at a home at approximately 2 a.m. The OPP said that during the arrest he assaulted an officer; however, the officer was not injured.

The man was charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and five counts of breaching probation. He was held for bail in Belleville court on Monday afternoon.
