BELLEVILLE – Belleville police responded to three reports of assault on Tuesday.

The first incident occurred shortly before noon at a residence on the city’s east end, according to police. They received a report that a 28-year-old man had assaulted a 47-year-old woman. There were no reported injuries. The alleges assailant was not longer there when police arrived. They took the woman’s statement and are looking for the man.

The second incident, also at an east-end home, was a report by a 16-year old woman that an 18-year old man had assaulted her. The alleged attacker was found in the west end and taken to the police station, where it was discovered he was in breach of his probation. He has been charged with assault and breach of probation and is to appear in court next month. There were no injuries, police say.

The final incident, at another east-end home, initially involved a trespasser. Upon further investigation, police say, they found evidence that the trespasser had assaulted a 26-year old woman and had damaged a door. Police later found that the trespasser, a 27-year old man, was also in breach of probation. The alleged attacker was arrested at the scene and charged with assault, mischief and breach of probation. He was detained for a bail hearing. There were no injuries.
