Lonnie M.D. Herrington is a candidate for Belleville city council in Ward 1. Herrington is a roofer by trade. He runs his own business Lonnie Herrington Jr. Roofing and General Contracting. He says as a small business operator he has to be fiscally responsible and he would bring this experience to council.

Herrington, 19, is a high school graduate.

Herrington has been volunteering with the John Howard Society for the past two years and has worked as a volunteer and mentor for at-risk youth.

Herrington says youth employment and crime are serious issues in Belleville. He feels there is nothing constructive for youth to do in Belleville and city council doesn’t represent the needs of the youth. He says his experience working with at risk youth would bring a much needed perspective to council.
