A Via Rail train collided with a double decker bus in Ottawa. There are reports of 6 people dead, including the driver, 31 sent to hospital and 11 in critical condition.
Witnesses on the scene said that the bus appeared to ignore the warning signals at the crossing. The crossing barrier was down when the bus hit. The Via Rail train was derailed, and the bus’ front end was torn off.
Trains from Belleville to Ottawa are leaving as planned, but will be stopped in Kingston and put on a bus for the rest of their journey.
