Leighann Bishop

Leighann is one of the volleyball team’s two captain’s, sharing the position with Kirsten Talsma. She’s 21, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, and has one older sister, Amberlyn. Leighann is in her final year of the Paralegal program at Loyalist. She chose volleyball for the love of the game, and because it seemed to be something she was good at. Leighann chose to come to Loyalist because she liked the family-feel of the school (similar to how she likes the family-feel of her team), and the small size. She also got a scholarship to play volleyball. Someday, Leighann hopes to someday be a mediator and volleyball coach. This season, she hopes to improve on her defensive skills. Kirsten Talsma

Kirsten is a 21-year-old Kirby, Ontario native, who graduated from Durham Christian High School. Kirsten shares co-captaincy with Leighann Bishop and plays the right side and setter positions. She’s currently in her second and final year of the Police Foundations program. Kirsten started playing volleyball because her three older siblings, Tina, Eric and Ryan all played, and she decided to come to Loyalist because her program had great reviews. Sherene Einarsson

Sherene is originally from Cobourg, Ontario, and she graduated from St. Mary’s Secondary School. This 19-year-old Practical Nursing student plays left side on the team and is currently enrolled in her second year of Practical Nursing. Sherena has two older brothers and was scouted to come to Loyalist this year. If she could improve on anything it would be her verticals (jumping ability). LeeAnne Jeffs

LeeAnne is a 19-year-old Stirling native currently in her second year of the Child and Youth Worker program at Loyalist College. She graduated from Bayside Secondary School in 2010. LeeAnne plays middle on her volleyball team, and says her family is her main source of support because they always push her to do her best. Jenny Richardson

Jenny, an 18-year-old Whitby, Ontario native, is currently in her first year of Police Foundations. She graduated from Sinclair Secondary School and hopes to work with people with special needs someday. Jenny chose Loyalist because she received a volleyball scholarship. She has won four LOSSA (Lake Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association) championships and one OFFSA (Ontario Federation of School Athletics Association) championship in her volleyball career. Jenny has one older brother, named Max, and four older sisters, Kristi, Kelly, Christine and Michelle. Co-captain Leighann Bishop has pointed Jenny out as a potential leader for next year’s team, and one of the team’s top rookies this season. Kristen Curtis

Kristen is an 18-year-old rookie from the Belleville area. She graduated from Bayside Secondary School and she’s currently enrolled in her first year of Police Foundations. Kristen hopes to be an OPP officer one day. She chose Loyalist because of the great reputation her program has, and she wanted to stay close to home. Kristen has three siblings, and plays middle on the volleyball team. If she could improve one aspect of her playing, it would be her confidence in her abilities and her blocking consistency. Katie Glass

Katie is an 18?year-old player from Sydenham, who plays libero for the Lady lancers. She is currently enrolled in the Registered Nursing program at Loyalist. She chose Loyalist because if offered her the chance to play volleyball and take her ideal program. Katie has one older sister named Lyndsay. She wants to work as an emergency room nurse some day, in a small town, because it’s a fast paced job that never has a dull moment. Katie said if she could improve one aspect of her game, it would be to put less pressure on herself and not worry so much. Nicole Rainville

Nicole is 18 years old, and is originally from Ottawa, Ontario. She plays right and left side on the team and is in her first year of fine arts at Loyalist. She chose Loyalist because it’s a small school and it felt like home to her. Nicole is an only child, and one day hopes to open her own gallery.? Linette Melick

Linette is 18 years old, and graduated from South Huron District High School in Exeter, Ontario. She is currently in her first year of Health and Fitness Promotion, and hopes to be a personal trainer and paramedic one day. Linette has four older sisters and plays middle and left side on the Lancers team. She says she plays volleyball because of the environment it brings, and because it’s a team sport. She says the volleyball team is her family away from home. Linette hose Loyalist because she felt welcomed and comfortable here. Her program is very strong and she had the chance to play varsity volleyball. Linette mostly wants to improve on her hitting.
