BELLEVILLE – Officers with the Loyalist Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an assault involving a father and son Monday.

A 49–year old man and his 16–year old son were attending a convenience store in Odessa, Ontario when a fight began between his son and another youth. The father prevented onlookers from stopping the altercation as it continued according to police.

The father has been charged with counselling an offence and while his son was charged with assault. Both the father and son were both released on a promise to appear. The older male is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Jan. 16 while his son is set for Jan. 2.
