School board passes new accessibility plan

  • September 24, 2018 at 1:03 pm

By Sarah Law

BELLEVILLE – School board trustees passed a new accessibility plan for the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board at their first meeting since the start of the school year Monday night.

The plan will run until August 2023. It covers a range of strategies to eliminate barriers to people with disabilities in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

It covers not only physical barriers but other challenges that are harder to measure, such as bullying, social isolation and lack of awareness about supports that are available.

The plan passed with no discussion.
