BELLEVILLE – Hospice Quinte held its first-ever Ruth E. Pascoe Memorial Hues for Hospice fundraiser on Sunday at the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club in Belleville.
The event included an art show, sale and silent auction to raise money for the organization.
Hospice Quinte offers help to terminally ill patients and their caregivers, along with bereavement support. Its office is at the Bayview Mall.

Original pieces from 14 local artists were submitted to the silent auction and sold during the event.
Jennifer May-Anderson, the executive director of Hospice Quinte, said all proceeds from the silent auction and ticket sales went directly to the organization.
Hospice Quinte has been running for over 30 years and sees between 300 and 400 patients annually, said May-Anderson. Last year, it dedicated 14,000 volunteer hours to the community.
“We believe that everyone has the right to comfort and support during the most vulnerable time of their life: as it’s ending. We have trained volunteers who go into homes and help support families who have a terminally ill loved one,” she said.
“And we also understand that coming back to the new normal after the death of a loved one can be a challenging experience, so we offer bereavement support groups for that.”

Hospice Quinte hosts several annual events, including a gala, a hike and its Memorial Trees fundraiser at the Quinte Mall that starts on Saturday and goes until Dec. 16. People can purchase a memorial dove ornament for the hospice’s Christmas trees.
“We’re always looking to expand our services, and we’re looking forward to many exciting things in the future,” said May-Anderson.
