Belleville Police charge knife waving man downtown

BELLEVILLE – A 30-year-old Belleville man faces assault and weapon charges after police say he was waving a knife and threatening people downtown on Monday.

Belleville police were called to Front Street at noon Monday after getting reports of a man with a knife yelling and swearing. They quickly found the man.

He was charged with assault, uttering threats, weapons possession and breach of a court order and held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
