Belleville bus terminal closing for renovations

  • January 27, 2020 at 11:46 am

By Ryan Peddigrew

BELLEVILLE – The Pinnacle Street bus terminal is closing for renovations for three months starting Feb. 6.

The terminal will be completely closed for the duration of the renovations, according to a news release Monday from Belleville Transit. However, passengers can still use the heated shelters outside the terminal to wait for their buses. Temporary washrooms will also be set up for passengers and bus drivers to use while the terminal is under construction.

Once construction is underway, construction fencing will be put up and vending machines will be removed.

The upgrades to the terminal include larger, barrier-free washrooms that are compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, with outside entrances to allow easier access for people at downtown events or visiting the farmers’ market. The drivers’ break room is also being upgraded and expanded.

Bus tickets and transit passes will still be available for purchase at city hall, the administration building for Belleville Water at 183 Pinnacle St., and the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
