OLS call center sets its sights on Belleville

  • November 18, 2011 at 1:54 pm

by Kyle Mumford

Belleville may be home to a new call centre in the new year if OLS Online Support is able to find a strong enough labour pool in the area.

OLS announced earlier this week they are looking at opening a new site in Belleville or Quinte West.  OLS had looked into the Quinte area back in 2009 but at the time the market was saturated with call centres.  Since then, many of those companies have closed and the landscape has changed and Quinte is a viable location now, said John Hooper, OLS vice president of business development.

“We like the population size,” Hooper said.

And OLS appears to be the type of business that needs a growing labour force.  In October they hired 200 workers to add to their existing work force in North Bay, ON.

In August, Hinduja Global Services acquired 100 per cent of OLS’ stock, allowing it to expand its global footprint.  Hooper said this acquisition allows OLS to offer their contracts a wider range of services than before.  Hooper said that since the company was founded, they have opened 10 sites and haven’t closed one location yet.  Seven of those locations have been built just within the last five years.

Hooper said OLS will be holding job fairs to fill the positions necessary to begin operations in the area.  Job fairs will be held in Belleville on November 30 and in Quinte West on December 1.  OLS hopes to open its doors by January of next year.
