BELLEVILLE – Belleville police say they had to deploy a taser on a man who was resisting arrest early Tuesday morning on Sidney Street.

At 3:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a man trying to break into a home through a window on Sidney Street.

Police say a 36-year-old Belleville man was found nearby and resisted arrest causing police to use a taser to take him into custody. Police say they also found a large knife in his clothing.

The man was already wanted for a similar incident at the same home 24 hours earlier for mischief to property, uttering death threats and four counts of breach of probation.

In addition, he is now facing charges of weapons dangerous, mischief and another four counts of breach of probation.
