BELLEVILLE – A 31-year-old Whitby man is facing charges of impaired driving with a blood alcohol limit over 80.

On Saturday shortly after 10 p.m., officers conducted a RIDE program on County Road 23 near Boyle Road north of Grafton.

Police say a man driving a grey Ford SUV approached the check point. When speaking to the driver, police say they could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle. A roadside screening device confirmed that the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was then arrested and charged with a court date of April 15 in Cobourg.
