Organizer of the ride Lou DeVuono and his wife Anne led the pack of over 3000 riders to the Highway of Heroes. In 2007 the highway between Glen Miller Road and the Don Valley Parkway was renamed to honour fallen soldiers. The Highway of Heroes Ride began in 2009 with a modest 134 motorcyclists.
