A November 2012 investigation at a Canada Post office in Prince Edward County led to an arrest of a Sophiasburgh man.

Richard Jewell, 56, of the Ward of Sophiasburgh, has been charged by police with theft under $5000, theft from mail sent by Canada Post, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Prince Edward OPP and Canada Post Investigations launched an inquiry after complaints mail had been tampered with and not received or delivered at all.

Jewell was released and is to appear in court February 27.
