Loyalist College open through storm

  • February 8, 2013 at 2:13 pm

By Luc Lefebvre

Loyalist College remained open today during the storm although a donation to the school was cancelled.
Wilfred J. Wilkinson, a founding partner of Wilkinson & Company, public accounting firm, cancelled his visit to give Loyalist college a donation today because of the weather conditions. Dianne Spencer, the executive director of college advancement and external relations, said the college takes a number of factors into consideration when deciding whether to close, including whether Belleville transit continues running.
“In other words should city buses be cancelled or shut down then that’s certainly an indicator that the college would take into consideration,” said Spencer late Friday morning.
She said conditions are monitored throughout the day.
“There will be a discussion over the noon hour again as an update to see what conditions are now and whether a decision should be made to close the college later in the afternoon,” she said.

Clarification: The donation from Wilkinson & Company went ahead as scheduled on Friday  but the presentation of the plaque and public ceremony was cancelled due to the snowstorm.
