Hardware stores quiet during the storm

  • February 8, 2013 at 2:23 pm

Snow has slowed business in local hardware stores but shovels aren’t flying off the shelves.

George Waller, manager of the Home Hardware in Belleville, said the weather has effected business for the store today.

“It’s making it kind of quiet, other than a few shovels that’s it,” he said. “It’s not necessarily a good thing.”

Waller said that once things start to freeze they will get busy because people will need to purchase salt.

Bob Rowan, the manager for the Home Hardware in Trenton, said the weather is slowing down his business.

“It’s definitely quieter today,” Rowan said.

He said people didn’t stock up for the storm either,

“It seemed like business as usual yesterday,” he said.

Environment Canada is forecasting as much 15-25 centimetres to fall on the Belleville area today.
