Your chance to comment on Quinte West’s new public-works building

QUINTE WEST – Tonight is the night when Quinte West residents can have a say on whether they want a new $21-million public-works building.

A public meeting is being held at 6 p.m. at Quinte West’s city hall.

The building was supposed to be decided upon in early November, but Quinte West council decided to delay the vote because of concerns that the public’s voice had not heard throughout the process.

A citizen who attended that council meeting said he wasn’t happy about what he called the secrecy around the project. “This project has been going on for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it,” said Bob Coker, a North Murray man.

The new consolidated facility would eliminate the current seven different public-works buildings across Quinte West. It would create a central hub, where all the works vehicles and supplies could be kept.
